• CHILD PROTECTION POLICY

Everyone who participates at N&D Gymnastics Club is entitled to do so in an enjoyable and safe environment. N&D Gymnastics Club has a moral and legal obligation to ensure that, when given responsibility for young people, coaches and volunteers provide them with the highest possible standard of care. N&D Gymnastics Club is committed to devising and implementing policies so that everyone in sports accepts their responsibilities to safeguard children from harm and abuse. This means to follow procedures to protect children and report any concerns about their welfare to appropriate authorities. The aim of the policy is to promote good practice, providing children and young people with appropriate safety/protection whilst in the care of N&D Gymnastics Club, and to allow staff and volunteers to make informed and confident responses to specific child protection issues. A child/young person is defined as a person under the age of 18 (Children’s Act 1989)Policy Statement
N&D Gymnastics Club is committed to the following:• the welfare of the child is paramount• all children, whatever their age, culture, ability, gender, language, racial origin, religious belief and/or sexual identity should be able to participate in gymnastics in a fun and safe environment• taking all reasonable steps to protect children from harm, discrimination and degrading treatment and to respect their rights, wishes and feelings• all suspicions and allegations of poor practice or abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately• all N&D Gymnastics Club employees who work with children will be recruited with regard to their suitability for that responsibility, and will be provided with guidance and/or training in good practice and child protection procedures• working in partnership with parents and children is essential for the protection of children. All members of staff and coaches at N&D Gymnastics club will follow all Scottish Gymnastics policy and procedures regarding all child protection procedures, this includes attending all appropriate courses and keeping up to date with any reviews of these policies

 

 
  • CODE OF CONDUCT – COACHES, HELPERS & VOLUNTEERS

Here at N&D gymnastics we want every member to have a positive experience while participating in our sport, therefore It is very important that all members, coaches, helpers, volunteers and parents show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others at all times.
As a coach, helper or volunteer at N&D Gymnastics Club you are expected to abide by the following rules;• Hold relevant Scottish Gymnastics certificate.• Hold a valid PVG certificate accessed through Scottish Gymnastics and have appropriate insurance cover.• Prioritize the welfare and the safety of the gymnast and other coaches before the development of performance.• Do not put pressure or exert any undue influence on a gymnast for your own personal benefit or reward.• Prioritize the welfare and the best interest of the gymnasts at all times.• Give every gymnast the right to be treated as an individual.• Encourage gymnasts to value their performance over results.• Encourage good sportsmanship – value others performance.• Promote positive aspect of gymnastics – fair play.• Make sure all activities are; Age, ability and experience suitable so the gymnast is mentally and physically ready to partake.• Demonstrate a high standard of behaviour and make use of suitable language. Be mindful of your body language. (Leaning against the wall, giving commands may come across as if you cannot be bothered)• Present an appropriate appearance – wear sportswear.• Build an appropriate working relationship with gymnast and coaches based on mutual trust and respect.• Demonstrate good time keeping and consistence.• Strive to improve your own coaching ability by professional development.• Report any incidents, referrals and disclosures immediately following the appropriate guidelines set out by the Scottish Child Protection Procedures• Make sure that confidential information is not divulged unless with the approval of the individual concerned

 

  • CODE OF CONDUCT – GYMNASTS

Here at N&D gymnastics we want every member to have a positive experience while participating in our sport, therefore it is very important that all members, coaches, administrators and parents show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others at all times. As a member of N&D Gymnastics, you are expected to abide by the following rules; • Wear appropriate clothing to class. (Class uniform or T-shirt & leggings/shorts). Hair tied up. No socks unless agreed with coach. No jewellery. • Follow agreed set class times & days. Please let the club aware of absence. If you miss 2 consecutive classes, and haven’t made the club aware, you will lose your space at the club. • Train to the best of your ability, to help reach your potential. • Respect coaches’ choices and decisions at the time. If you disagree, you can discuss with the coach or head coach at the start or end of class. • Respect the rights, dignity & worth of others. Demonstrate kind behaviour and do not perform or instigate behaviour which will cause hurt or sadness to others. • Demonstrate good behaviour and manners when in class and or representing the club, do not use bad language also. • Let your coach know at the start of your class of any illnesses or injuries, or as soon as they show. • Please do not eat or chew during class times. • Keep all drinks off and away from mats and equipment. • No use of mobile phones unless agreed with coach. • Always ask a coach to leave class, no matter the reason. • Please respect all mats and equipment. • Please respect your surrounding areas and facilities at all times. Clean up after yourself. Do not leave your belongings lying around. • All 12 years and under, must not leave your coach until a parent has arrived to collect you. Anyone who makes their own way home, the coach must be made aware before class or in writing (Email, message). Finally, we ask that all our members are as open as possible and approach a coach, if they disagree with anything or feel unfairly treated or finding a task difficult. We aim to resolve any problems our members may have or feel thee best we can.

 

  • FIRE EVACUATION PROCEDURES

It is essential that gymnasts and coaches act in a calm and orderly manner in the event of a fire, and it is important that they are instructed in the appropriate procedures to be adopted in such circumstances. The following guidance has therefore been prepared for your assistance in formulating a simple but effective fire routine. 1. Anyone discovering a fire should immediately sound the nearest fire alarm call point. Younger gymnasts should be instructed to inform the nearest member of the coaching team.2. On hearing the fire alarm, gymnasts and coaches should make their way by the nearest fire exit to the Assembly Point in the front car park. The coach should follow at the rear with the appropriate class register, closing as many doors as possible3. The head coach will check the toilets and changing area for gymnasts separated from their class. 4. The head coach should process to the assembly point at the Shopping Centre Car parks, where roll call will be held.5. Gymnasts not actually in the class when the fire alarm sounds should process immediately via the nearest exist to the assembly point where they should join their class. 6. Coaches, volunteers, administrative staff and cleaners, other than those who have been allotted specific fire routine duties, should also report to the assembly point. 7. No one should re-enter the building until permission is given by the Fire Service Officer (supplied by hall) in charge. When informed that it is safe to re-enter the building, this will be done under the direction of the Head Coach. 8. The fire officer should be met by the Head Coach on his/her arrival at the premises and notified whether all persons have been accounted for. 9. The fire service should be informed immediately of all fires, no matter how small. 10. Normally, fire drills should be held at least twice per Year.11. Circumstances will dictate whether fire fighting should be attempted by the coaches, however, it is emphasized that fire fighting must always come second to the safety of life.

 

  • CODE OF CONDUCT – PARENTS, GUARDIANS & CARERS

Here at N&D gymnastics, we want every member to have a positive experience while participating in our sport, therefore it is very important for every member of our club to show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of other at all time. As a parent, guardian or Carer at N&D Gymnastics club you are expected to abide by the following rules, you should;• Encourage your gymnasts to learn the rules and participate within them.• Ensure your gymnast is dressed appropriately for class.• Remain out of the hall during session and not disturb training sessions.• Ensure your gymnast is dropped off and picked up promptly from sessions.• Ensure your gymnasts is signed in and out, and appropriate consent is given to the club for your gymnast to leave sessions unaccompanied.• Ensure all fees and other money owed to the club is paid on time.• Demonstrate good sportsmanship, by applauding all performances. Never punish or belittle poor performances • Treat all members of the club equally. Never instigate, or participate in, any form of bullying of any member of our club. (gymnast, Coaches, staff & parents)• Respect coaches as trained professionals and allowed them to run sessions with the minimal of disruption. Including staying in the hall or distracting gymnasts or commenting or critiquing a coaches decision during a training session.• Share any concerns or complaints about the club through the approved channels.• Use correct and proper language at all times. The club will not tolerate rudeness or aggression towards any staff member or coach or other parent. You will be asked to leave, and your gymnast session will be terminated.• Note that when a gymnast is training or performing at an event, the gymnast is in the care of the club and therefore should not be taken away without knowledge or consent of the person in charge
